The Department of Homeland Security will move forward with plans to implement the REAL ID Act despite widespread opposition from citizens and state legislatures. Sen. Leahy and other Democrats have sponsored repeal legislation, but DHS spokesman Russ Knocke says REAL ID is “righteous” and says states must comply by May 2008.
