How many elections have gone by since it was possible to look at a presidential candidate’s record, their entire record, and see totally consistent and reasoned adherence to Constitutional principles? No trial balloons, no testing of the waters, nothing but term after term in Congress filled with votes, speeches, and introduced legislation with the best interests of the American people behind them.
How long has it been?
For those who say he can’t win, remember that who wins is our decision, despite all the noise and the way things have been for as long as I can remember. The voice of the people has gotten weak over the decades, but it’s just a matter of deciding to make it strong again. The entrenched class in Washington, and the purported front-runners, really do believe that we’ll continue to take it; the flagrantly broken promises of the last mid-term election are a testament to that. But we don’t have to take it; we can choose not to, in each of the primaries and straw polls, and on election day.
Just listen to the man. If you don’t agree with everything, or if you’re for or against something important that he seems to be against or for, just listen to what he’s really promising. When you get right down to it, I’d rather put my support behind someone who’s consistent, honest, and unlikely to flip on me after the election is over.
So, congratulations on your mainstream promotion, Dr. Paul. Nobody needed to tell us that you’re a force to be reckoned with, but I’m glad to see they did.
