I wrestled with the idea of posting this story, and then decided that its value as a learning tool outweighed the possibility that anyone who frequents my site would actually take it at face value.
The story describes an experiment with SCADA attacks, as featured in my book, but under experimental conditions that are far, far from real-world circumstances. It’s a little like saying “hackers” could easily rob Fort Knox, IF all the guards were sound asleep AND all the doors were left open AND there was a simultaneous power outage across Kentucky. But by all means, read and research for yourself; it smells a little like propaganda to me.
