I’ve got a special affection for computer chess, dating back to the late ’70s. There’s just something wonderful about engaging in a time-tested, legitimate battle of wits with a machine; I don’t mind getting beaten at all, and the (very) occasional win feels like a real accomplishment.
I’m not going to beat the Shredder engine, though, and I’m okay with that. This program is racking up trophies all over the world, and getting better with every new version. Let me know (and send a screenshot!) if you come out of a game alive.
